Thanks, that was it. I didn't realize that Radeon drivers involved loading firmware blobs. I thought that was for proprietary drivers like nvidia or fglrx. Anyhow, it works now and keeps up with live high-def TV playback from my HDHomerun tuner box. I have one or two more items to deal with before the laptop is 100% functional under linux, but that'll be another thread. -- Walter Dnes <[email protected]>
