I have a ssd.
I always used prelink.
After a botched gcc upgrade I was forced to reinstall (yeah, THAT botched).
I forgot to install prelink.
I did not miss it.
I realized that I forgot prelink when Neil started his glibc thread and I had 
a look with eix.
