Adding an LDAP server in Thunderbird, basically all Mozilla releases from 1.x.x. and up were giving the same result ..You add the LDAP server and it will not show up in the end.No errors or anything .. In my case the LDAP server in question is, Netscape's / Sun Iplanet.. I tested on different machines with different versions of X and window managers...all on gentoo..same result.. I ended up using Netscape 7.2 which did work .. Now I've recently installed the thunderbird-bin package from portage and guess what .. IT WORKS !!! I tried the source package ..and no luck.,..You would start to think that it is not compiled in building from source on gentoo. I did'nt look into it in detail though , so can't really make a statement on that..
