Depends on which FAQ and which driver. For the fglrx driver I think/I'm sure it has to be disabled. As for ati-drivers it seems you are getting one older then I'm using: flash ~ # emerge -pv ati-drivers These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done!
