Which ebuild is your mkfs.vfat from? The manpage for mkfs.vfat from
sys-fs/dosfstools suggests that you want "-s 3 -S 512". That gets you
2^3 sectors per cluster and 512-byte sectors.
Thanks, that worked. Though -s 8 and -S 512, because 512 * 8 = 4096.
