I wonder if it's just me. Recently, when I install Gentoo on laptops, net-setup does not work; I end up with eth0 in the 169.254/16 range, i.e. "zeroconf". However, I can manually go in afterwards and type the appropriate "ifconfig" and "route add" statements. Then eth0 comes up properly. In a recent case it was 192.168.123.252 netmask 255.255.255.248 (YES!) broadcast 192.168.123.255 and default gateway 192.168.123.254.
Is there a known problem with wifi interfering with eth0 in net-setup? I just want to check around before filing a bug. I tried the "nodchcpd" option but it didn't help. -- Walter Dnes <[email protected]> I don't run "desktop environments"; I run useful applications
