>From wicd-1.6 and onward you're not required to be in plugdev, but users group. The present stable wicd in net-misc/wicd-1.7.2.4-r2 Read the postinst messages for all the apps you install. For that package: /var/log/portage/elog/net-misc\:wicd-1.7.2.4-r2\:20130419-223012.log It's nice to install app-portage/elogv and issue "elogv" to view elogs created by Portage (read it's log, also).
