It seems to me this bug is not slim related. I've upgraded my amd64 and login
is working OK; it only happened on my x86
Whatever theme I try to use from folder: /usr/share/slim/themes/
slim -p /usr/share/slim/themes/<theme name>
it shows up (just the picture) but without "Username / Password" text.
and I get an additional error message:
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading
configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.
