Doh! I was wrong. It _does_ show it. It just doesn't show it where
I've been looking for it to be for the past 20 years:
Symbol: E1000 [=n]
Type : tristate
>>> Prompt: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Gigabit Ethernet support
Location:
-> Device Drivers
-> Network device support (NETDEVICES [=y])
-> Ethernet driver support (ETHERNET [=y])
(2) -> Intel devices (NET_VENDOR_INTEL [=y])
Defined at drivers/net/ethernet/intel/Kconfig:47
Depends on: NETDEVICES [=y] && ETHERNET [=y] && NET_VENDOR_INTEL [=y]
&& PCI [=y]
The bottom level menu entry is shown at the _top_ rather than where I
always expected the bottom level to be shown (at the bottom):
Symbol: E1000 [=n]
Type : tristate
Location:
-> Device Drivers
-> Network device support (NETDEVICES [=y])
-> Ethernet driver support (ETHERNET [=y])
(2) -> Intel devices (NET_VENDOR_INTEL [=y])
>>> -> Intel(R) PRO/1000 Gigabit Ethernet support
Defined at drivers/net/ethernet/intel/Kconfig:47
Depends on: NETDEVICES [=y] && ETHERNET [=y] && NET_VENDOR_INTEL [=y]
&& PCI [=y]
How embarassing...
