I might suggest Adblock Edge as an alternative. It seems to work. Also, if you choose an EasyList+EasyPrivacy subscription, it should do all of what Ghostery does.
An equivalent extension to replace Ghostery would be Disconnect.Me (it does not have ties to an advertising company, if you cared).
