It seems your kernel doesn't support DRI, nor modesetting. I would suggest checking your kernel configuration for the options needed for radeon driver. I don't remember how I did but there is the Gentoo Wiki : http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Radeon Mickaël Bucas
