mplayer is here! But doesn't work. Fails w/ too many
video packets error.
According to the FAQ needs the --autosync option.
Nope.
I think it's got something to do with the audio. The
dvd opens with the usual dire warning message then the
logo of the production company but then fails when it
gets to the introductory music -- just a guess. I
notice below that it complains about not being able to
init VDecoder then goes ahead and opens the, lower
case, video decoder anyways.
FWIW ogle works OK. My cpu/vid-card can certainly
handle dvd playback.

Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or
the codec failed?
For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with
the -ni option.
