Hi Andrew,

You might be interested in these settings (from about:config):

browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll
browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll

You can configure what happens when you click in the address bar.

I have no idea why the defaults on win/linux are different, though,
