It will come back in some different form. Linus supports the concept of improved IPC in Linux which was the intent of kdbus. There were apparently just a number of issues with the overall design which has led to it being abandoned in its current form. The concept of dbus/policykit/etc is a very good one, and I don't know too many who object to it at that level. At a conceptual level it lets ANY piece of software expose services to the system and allow administrators to control who is allowed to access which services in a generic way. At some level it is a more sane replacement for /etc/sudoers and POSIX capabilities for routine use. -- Rich
