No, I made no changes to the config file. Here's the history: 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 -- WORKS 2.6.13-gentoo-r2-SMP -- FAILED 2.6.13-gentoo-r2 -- WORKS All I did was copy the .config from the original source directory, run make oldconfig, then make menuconfig, look around, exit, and then make && make modules_install.
