maim is typically used by the type of person who wants to take a
picture of their terminal, so I think the behavior is intentional. The
type of person who wants to take a picture of their terminal is also
usually a very good programmer, which is why I like maim.
In addition to Niko's answer, you can use `xdotool search --name ${NAME}`.
