In other words it can stream to other computers on your network as well as to their own proprietary player. Control is via the built in web server (ie built in to the slimserver software residing on your server machine with the mp3's sitting on it) or there are some telnet-like protocols built in too. I have had slimserver serving music to other computers all over my house. they don't need to be running linux - any browser / mp3 software should work. IE and winamp do it. You can even set it up so they all play the same thing (so you get the same music as you move from room to room) or else each player can play what they like.
