[gentoo-user] UEFI system - installing Grub without EFI

I was trying to check VFAT boot partition on my disk with Gparted but it
failed.  Root partition checked OK.

Can I format the VFAT to EXT2 and install grub on it without EFI?

There is a possibility VFAT partition  got damaged.
