Thanks; that was my problem. I had installed "sysklogd" but not "syslog-ng". Installing and starting "syslog-ng" now has the messages coming up. I've also added it to default level in rc-update. -- Walter Dnes <[email protected]> I don't run "desktop environments"; I run useful applications
