It seems to be working correctly now, tho' only time will tell.
I believe I needed to reboot to get the new version set up properly
& instead I initially tried a "setuid root", which used to be required.
Now apparently, it is strickly forbidden (grimace).

Anyway, after a remerge & reboot & no "setuid", it got going as it should.
