I agree. For firmware, this is the way to go. I use dracut and I think it even picks up firmware that needs to be loaded early on. So far, I don't recall ever doing anything, it just works. Plus, as pointed out before, it updates as needed. You don't have to remember to do anything or track updates elsewhere, which one may forget to do. Dale :-) :-) P. S.
