Strange. Even when I set the dirty bit and restart, no check was done. I think it's time to call up IBM. Maybe one of their wonderful contraptions is stopping chkdsk at startup >_<
I don't know why you are having these problems... I had no probs at all with rescuecd. Just burn and boot (then follow the instructions you have previously printed...).
