Sure, it's somebody's fault! We can start with blaming the Microsoft's Jscript development team, and follow up with the ECMA standards body for trying to compromise between the two existing versions of J[ava]script. After that, we should go after Netscape and IE both for creating two different conflicting DOMs in the first place.
