According to the man pages (in the 0.7* releases. and I am writing
from memory, so not too sure), if you have framebuffer support, you
can run qemu from the commandline directly. But I have never been able
to get it to play well: something was wacky with my video
configuration that the qemu display would only show on the upper right
hand corner with 1/3 of the width of the screen and 2/3 the height of
the screen, which makes it look unpleasantly squashed.
