No, it started alright.

Same response, the printer makes some noise and the
trouble light starts to blink. Then silence. This time
nothing at all is printed.

ditto, nothing prints

Oh, and changing debug level in cupsd.conf doesn't
have any effect. I saved the file; do I have to logout
and in again?
