no, I do not have a separated boot partition because I just have 2 disks with the raid, so I cannot have the separated boot partition. But the boot starts and initrd and linuxrc are loaded ( apparently ).

Assume you're also using an initrd (with genkernel ... --dmraid ...). HTH.Rumen
