If you want to print through your WinXP machine *without* Samba then you need to set it up to share printers with unix machines. Go to: Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Add/Remove Windows Components Other Network File and Print Services Print Services for UNIX. This service will need to be started manually (from admin tools) or added to your start up list (Run: msconfig.exe). You may well need to configure your WinXP firewall for this and it would be a good idea to limit connections to your Linux box LAN IP address.
