Just realised that there is a stage3-i586-...tar.bz2. For new installs on amd K6 I assume that would be more appropriate than stage3-x86... For existing installs I assume that the same procedure applies for changing CHOST to i586 as for changing to i686 as discussed in order threads on this list...
