Have you tried zapping net.eth0 then restarting it?

/etc/init.d/net.eth0 zap
/etc/init.d/net.eth0 start
/etc/init.d/sshd start
etc...

Well, this is happening all at boot before login, so I want to fix it
there so that sshd start at boot so I can hide the server in the
garage and administer it remotely.
