Say, I have CD-drive as /dev/hdc device. At my case, it is NEC CD-RW NR-9300A. I know, it has 2MB cache. If I understand well, media-sound/cdparanoia ripper is 'designed' to be used with CD-drives with cache size up to 1MB.
