Some time ago, I noticed that whenever I ran my semi-weekly 'emerge -uavD world', some packages were given in bold. For a while I thought perhaps they were more system-critical packages, but upon further investigation I could find no sort of pattern to which packages were being bolded and which weren't. Then I thought maybe it was a local bug, but soon thereafter some of my friends noticed the same thing in their portage outputs.
