I don't know if this will help, but I have a Samsung 193P. It, likewise, has no controls, but I didn't have any problems with Gentoo. Along with Samsung's directions for installing the monitor, were instructions on use with Linux, so I was pretty impressed. As I said, this may not be of any use to you because it's a different monitor model, but thought I would share anyway.
