Have you tried making the /mnt/cdrom directory? If so check the permissions using `ls -l` if that turns out fine try linking /media/cdrom to /mnt/cdrom. It could be that your cdrom is being mounted on /media/cdrom, therefore, you might have to link these directories using: `ln -sf /mnt/cdrom /media/cdrom` with root priveledges.
