I actually run /etc/init.d/xdm manually after a boot because, chances are, if I've rebooted my machine there's stuff I'm gonna want to do from the command line before I start a desktop. Or as a previous poster said. # rc-upate del xdm # echo '/etc/init.d/xdm start' >> /etc/conf.d/local.start I don't think you'd need to add anything to local.stop but you may wanna verify that. -- Albert W.
