[gentoo-user] What should i use instead of /dev/usb?

I am using some hardware that requries external drivers (no ebuild
either) and it says i should;
mknod /dev/usb/panel0 c 180 180
 
Since /dev/usb doesnt exist, what is the correct alternative?
(2.6.22-gentoo-r8)
