Well, if you are a website visitor the whole wide world is your oyster and BBC 
ought to cater for this (within reason).  They have messed up big time, 
spending millions!!! of GBP to develop a MS Windows only media player (MS 
Windows binary) and have received wide criticism about it.  Now they are 
trying to squirm out of their obligations as a *public* broadcaster, by 
claiming that they don't need to address the needs of the "few hundred" Linux 
visitors.  Not on!  I suggest that if you are a *nix BBC web site visitor of 
any flavour you are entitled to express your views on the matter and this 
petition is one way of doing so.
