When I did that, the output was peppered with these: /etc/make.conf: line 40: PORTAGE_RSYNC_INITIAL_TIMEOUT: command not found /etc/make.conf: line 41: PORTAGE_RSYNC_RETRIES: command not found I see that the former is no longer in /etc/make.conf/example, so I've now removed it, but the latter is still there and I'd like to continue to use it.
