Yeh, I wasn't being specific enough with my rule. This rule (revised) works perfectly: KERNEL=="sda1", RUN+="/bin/mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /home/dcowsill/usb" Thanks Alan, for putting me on the right track.
