Easy.

Don't use rhythmbox. Don't use Gnome.
Do use KDE. Do use Amarok. Do use mplayer.

*especially* do use mplayer.

I know this isn't what you want to hear. I just couldn't resist an open 
invitation to dig at Gnome. I'll crawl back into my KDE and e17 fanboy 
clubhouse and shut up now.
