Thanks Alan.  Compiling madwifi-ng-0.9.3.3 I get:

ARCH mismatch: supplied "x86", determined "x86_64".

It's covered here:

and the solution seems to be upgrade to 0.9.4.  Hmmm.  I think my only
option is to disable SMP support until this is fixed.
