1. Do you see it in dmesg?
2. Does a device get created (e.g. /dev/video0)
3. Can you read from the device: e.g: $ ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -s
800x600 -r 10 -i /dev/video0 test.avi
Likely your problem is one of the 3.
