I have removed /usr/portage/metadata/*, as well as /var/cache/edb but the
error remains.
One fix, sync if you haven't today then upgrade eix. The version of eix
you need is app-portage/eix-0.13.5 that was released in the last day or
so. It is keyworded/masked as well.
