I used to use -U round about 2004. Reason I used it was because I emerge unstable packages by setting the ACCEPT_KEYWORDS environment variable. I learnt better ways of doing it and started using the ~x86 branch, so my need for it disappeared. I remember seeing deprecated warnings about it soon after I started using it, but I'm not sure when it was removed. I'd rather not go into my age :) Regards Dirk
