My HD is getting noisier during access and I wonder if it's a fragmentation issue. I have:
# df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 960872076 754795944 157266648 83% / I know Linux systems aren't supposed to become fragmented, but I've also read that it can happen eventually. I'm on ext3. I've read that ext4 will have a defragmenter but that it doesn't have one yet. Has anyone tried the shake defragmenter? - Grant
