Well, I had trouble with the new xorg-server too. I added "x11-base/xorg-server -hal" to /etc/portage/package.use and everything worked fine here. That disables hal which is what causes all the problems. My KDE still works fine and as far as I can tell, made no difference whatsoever. I'm running the latest stable xorg-server and you may want to try it this way. It may be easier that keeping the old xorg-server like you have now. Just a thought. Dale :-) :-)
