Hi, I had been running a mythtv frontend/backend on a VIA EPIA mainboard (mini-itx). Kernel is 2.6.18.9 and gentoo 2006 !! This whole setup was quite stable until I powered down the system for three days recently. Now when I power on I see the following lines in /var/log/message
VIA 82xx Audio 0000:00:11.5: setting latency timer to 64 ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:580: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0x1fc0000] ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:580: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0x1fe0000] ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:522: codec_ready: codec 0 is not ready [0x1000000] ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:522: codec_ready: codec 0 is not ready [0x1000000] ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:580: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0x1fc0000] ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:580: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0x1fe0000] ALSA sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:2069: AC'97 0 access is not valid [0xffffffff], removing mixer. VIA 82xx Audio: probe of 0000:00:11.5 failed with error -5 -- cat /proc/asound/cards --- no soundcards --- lspci does list the onboard controller properly. Is this a hardware failure ? How can I confirm it ? regards holla
