not sure if I posted it here or elsewhere, but it turns out the
CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT is no longer a dependency of CONFIG_IWL4965 or vice
versa or something...
Once I turned CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT back on, everything worked!
