I've been looking at it myself. I think it boots faster if you shut your machines down at night. Other than that I think it's mostly an under-the-hood sort of thing. I'm a user-type also and thinking of building a big, expensive number cruncher so I was looking at it from the perspective of starting off with baselayout-2 just so I wouldn't have to do it later. - Mark
