Hi,

normal geocoding gives you an address for a coordinate pair.

For applications like "give me the max speed of the road I am on", this
is error prone as small GPS inaccuracies could suddenly place you on the
motorway lane going in the other direction, or on the forestry track
next to the motorway or so.

Such applications could benefit from a vectorial analysis - "here are my
GPS positions and speeds for the last 10 seconds, which road am I on"?
With that and a little map matching magic, it should be possible to
achieve much better results.

Has anyone already built something like that, potentially using the map
matching capabilities offered by OSRM or GraphHopper?

Bye
Frederik
