This is an absolute scandal. Anybody willing to persist, or find a way round
the problem?

Subject: Re: [geo] Geoengineering - Wikipedia entry

Wikipedia is notorious for being one-sided on all issues associated with
global climate. Efforts to correct or amplify entries associated with the
temeprature record of the planet, for example, were put up, then taken down by
a more senior "editor" so many times that the folks trying to correct the entry
finally gave up.

If someone takes this on, they may have to have some significant persistence.

    Hi all,

I did a google search on "site:wikipedia.org geoengineering".

    * The English entry for Geoengineering comes under "planetary engineering"
and is woefully inadequate.
    * The German entry has a reasonable list of geoengineering technologies,
but is now out of date with the discussion section.
    * The Chinese entry has been deleted.
    * The section on geoengineering under "mitigation of global warming"
discusses a NAS report of 1992, to give the only background. It then discusses
carbon sequestration, seeding oceans with iron, and solar shades, all in a
highly critical way. Most references are 2006 or before.

It is no wonder that someone new to the subject will be sceptical.

Here is an opportunity to get some facts into the public domain, and an
update on opinion. We need a top level entry in the English version of
wikipedia. Volunteers? Anybody experienced with getting a new wikipedia entry?

    Cheers,

    John
